What is significant about where I live?
This project starts with the geography of our world, nation and our town Malvern. The children learn that historically Malvern was famous for its water which can be collected from springs on the hills. We learn about the granite rocks which release rainwater at springs. We then enquire 'Does the weather of where I live affect the water?' We explore artists (Katsushika Hokusai, David Hockney and Christopher Hughes (local))who represent the weather of their locality through painting and developing their own artistic representation of their locality in the varying weathers. We will then work as historians to learns about the significant history of our Malvern Water which sold all around the world in bottles for about 500years. The large bottle plant was even just over the road at HolyWell. As designers, we will learn about the significance of Henry Morgan and his famous Morgan Car, whilst designing their own vehicle using moving wheels and axels.
