At Malvern Wells CE Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all our children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). As a voluntary aided Church of England primary school, we believe that every child is a unique individual, created in the image of God, and deserving of the opportunity to reach their brightest potential.
At the heart of our school's vision and values is the belief that each child is unconditionally loved by God and free to take risks, make mistakes, and grow in the safety of His forgiveness. By nurturing an environment where every child can feel valued, respected, and empowered, we are committed to helping each and every one of our pupils let their light shine brightly, both in our school and in the wider world.
We strive to meet the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities under the four main areas of the SEND Code of Practice:
Our dedicated staff team works closely with parents, carers, and external professionals to identify and address the individual needs of each child. We firmly believe that "provision for pupils with SEND is a matter for the school as a whole," and that "all teachers and key workers are teachers of pupils with SEN."
At Malvern Wells, we are committed to providing an inclusive curriculum that ensures the best possible progress for all our pupils, regardless of their needs and abilities. We make every effort to fully integrate children with SEND into our mainstream classes, ensuring they have full access to the National Curriculum.
Our teachers work tirelessly to adapt the curriculum and learning environment to meet the unique needs of each child. This may include the use of specialised resources, targeted interventions, or adjustments to teaching methods and strategies. By fostering an environment where mistakes are celebrated as opportunities for growth, we empower our children to take risks, embrace challenges, and become the brightest versions of themselves.
We believe that building strong connections with our families and the wider community is key to supporting the needs of our children with SEND. We work closely with parents and carers, valuing their insights and actively involving them in the "assess, plan, do, review" approach to ensure the best possible outcomes for their child.
Additionally, we work with a range of external agencies and professionals, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists, to access specialist expertise and support. By working collaboratively, we can ensure that every child at Malvern Wells CE Primary School is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resilience to thrive, both now and in the future.
