Remote Learning

At Malvern Wells CE Primary School, our priority is for children to attend school and learn in person wherever possible. However, there may be occasions when remote learning is needed, for example during school closure, partial closure, or in exceptional circumstances where a pupil cannot attend school for a longer period of time.

When Remote Learning Is Provided

If the school needs to provide remote education (for example during a closure), teachers will:

  • Set learning that follows the normal curriculum sequence so that children continue to build knowledge.

  • Provide daily English and maths learning, alongside wider curriculum subjects.

  • Share resources and activities through the school’s online learning platform.

  • Offer opportunities for pupils to ask questions and receive support.

Individual Pupil Absence

If a child is absent due to illness, remote learning will not normally be provided. Our priority in these circumstances is that the child rests, recovers and returns to school as quickly as possible.

Where a pupil is unable to attend school for another reason over a longer period of time, remote learning may be arranged on a case-by-case basis. Teachers will provide appropriate work and families can contact the school office if support is needed.

Access to Learning

We aim to ensure remote learning is accessible for all pupils:

  • Work will be shared digitally where possible.

  • Printed work packs may be provided where digital access is not available.

  • Support will be adapted for pupils with additional needs.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing

Safeguarding procedures remain in place during remote learning. Staff maintain regular contact with families where needed and pastoral support will continue to be available. Online safety guidance is also shared with pupils and parents.

Working Together

Parents and carers play an important role in supporting remote learning by:

  • Informing the school if their child is unwell or unable to complete work.

  • Providing a suitable space for learning where possible.

  • Contacting the school if help or guidance is needed.
