In Religious Education we seek to enable pupils to learn about Christianity and other faiths. This, we believe, will help pupils to form their own beliefs, values and attitudes so that they are able to make informed judgements and have an appreciation of the spiritual dimension of life. Effective religious education can only take place when regarded as part of the whole life of the school.
When the school is a community where children feel there is a mutual respect and understanding for one
another’s point of view, they develop positive, caring attitudes to other people and express these in practical
ways. We hope they will develop a sensitive understanding of the meaning and values embedded in
religious systems, and the effect of these on the lives of believers. We strive to promote understanding
between faiths and have developed a programme of visits to churches of world religions as well as inviting
guests from a variety of religions to visit us here in school. Our link with Halesowen CE Primary School
has been very successful in promoting understanding about the beliefs of others.
Collective Worship
We gather together on daily basis to take part in collective worship where there is an emphasis on the beliefs of Christians and specifically the Church of England. Our assemblies always aim to point out links of commonality between religions and contribute towards our religious education programme by teaching children about the major festival of world faiths and the links with the beliefs that we hold as Christians. The most important aim of our collective worship is to promote the goodness of fellowship, love and understanding and to try to give children the opportunity to explore there own spirituality in a relaxed and natural context. As a parent, you have the legal right to withdraw your child from collective worship, in this, as any other state school.
