Music

We aim to provide the children with a good balance between the three key areas of musical experience:

 

• Listening

• Composing

• Perfoming

 

The children are encouraged to listen to, discuss and appreciate music. They have many opportunities to sing and create their own music, using voices and percussion instruments. Through working together in composing and evaluating their work, the children gain an understanding and enjoyment of music which we hope will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Music is often integrated with other areas of the curriculum; in particular art and dance. We like to take full advantage of the experience of peripatetic music groups and local musicians to enrich musical experience through concerts and workshops. We sing all the time and a choir is one of the best!
