Geography explores the relationship between the Earth and its Peoples. We aim to provide children with a greater understanding of their immediate environment, and of the amazing variety to be found in other lands. We hope to inspire an appreciation of their own locality, and of the wider world, so that they will learn the fundamental importance of caring for and respecting the environment to the utmost extent.
Practical fieldwork and local studies provide ideal opportunities for us to make our teaching meaningful to the children, and are thus used extensively throughout the school years. We visit the hills and local nature reserves: map reading and atlas skills are taught. Visits to contrasting locations stimulate case study examples considered in class.
